Detroit will always hold a special place in my heart. Traveling to the riverwalk was a regular thing, especially as a teenager raised in the city. When I received Megan and Godwin’s inquiry about maternity photos, I couldn’t be more thrilled to learn that they wanted to have their maternity session on the Detroit Riverwalk. Godwin and Megan met an “old school” way — set up by a friend on a blind date! Though they spent a few months communicating via text before finally meeting, their conversations started their love. They dove right in — running together, cooking together; they knew they would be together forever on their second date. Now, these remain some of their favorite things to do. They love going on long walks in whatever setting they’re in — hiking up north, traversing New York City, and their weekly walks on the riverfront in Detroit.
Godwin is a chef and restauranteur, so they also love trying new restaurants and cuisines and getting ideas for his business. Megan is an avid follower of NYT cooking/food and business articles that she sends his way with ideas. They’re so excited to welcome their baby boy and have been thinking about all the fun ways they will get to experience their favorite places and things to do in new ways through his eyes. Their second date on the Detroit Riverwalk – when they knew they’d be together forever – is where they wanted to shoot their maternity photos. This will continue to be a place they go together often as a family.
